Getting ready to release his 10th studio album, Nas’ ‘Life is Good’ will be his final album release under Def Jam dropping July 17. Nas aka The Don, shows us the good life and the street life in his new Aristotle-directed clip
I have to say Rihanna killed this video. There may be alot of chatter going on about her personal life but she came through for her Dave Myers-directed visuals, “Where Have You Been.” RihRiha goes tribal as she rises from the water straight into an outdoor dance scene. Her looks range from wild fro to jungle prince with straight black hair. She looks pretty stunning in all her scenes. Watch the video.
Throwback Thursdays - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince
I’ve always been a fan of the Prince and it just so happened I was bumpin his throwback records today. People often forgot about how classic Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith were back in they day. After all they did win the first ever Rap Grammy.
So here’s a track off of the Hip Hop Duo’s last studio album, Code Red. “Scream” comes with a sick ass bass line, which was characteristic of the album, and a flow that most people probably never even heard from Will.
No doubt Usher’s ‘Climax’ was amazing and still is, but this single he’s ready to hit the dance floor. Scream will be featured off his forthcoming album, Looking For Myself. Ursher is determined to stay relevant.
Ma$e Gives His First Radio Interview in Years, Talks His Return to Rap With Funkmaster Flex
Hip-hop, listen up! Ma$e is back once again for another attempt at a rap comeback.
After pictures of the rapper-turned-pastor in the studio with French Montana and the Maybach Music camp caused a big stir online, the Harlem native popped onWale’s “Slight Work (Remix).”
Immediately after, the rumors of Ma$e signing to MMG brought the “retired” rapper’s name up on Twitter. Well, we left it to Hot97’s Funkmaster Flex to get Mr. Betha on the phone. In his first interview in a number of years, the former Bad Boy artist addressed everything from his relationship with Diddy, returning to rap, his retirement, G-Unit and the MMG rumors.
News: Kanye West To Debut Film at Cannes Film Festival in France
With the Cannes Film Festival set to open next month, Kanye West is readying his debut film for an unveiling at the prestigious cinema event in France. While the 30-minute film unveil sounds good in theory, sources close to West point out that he has yet to shoot a single frame for the film — a project that he is producing, writing, directing and scoring. Rumored to star fellow emcee Kid Cudi, all signs point to the offering being classified in the “thriller” genre. Known for his last-minute approach for ambitious and often times arduous projects, only time will tell if West finishes it in time for Cannes.
New Music: Far East Movement f/ Tyga – ‘Dirty Bass’ [Snippet]
Far East Movement cranks up the “Dirty Bass” on the title track off their upcoming album, due May 22. “My girl’s from Assadena, she ain’t that ghetto/ … But when it comes to bass, my girl got a banging trunk,” the electro-hop group sings before Tyga unleashes a booming verse. Listen to a 1:50 snippet below.
Kellz just knows how to make music that makes me want to shimmy and dance. Share My Love sounds like something I’d hear on an old episode of Soul Train. This serves as the first offering from R. Kelly’s upcoming album Write Me Back . Enjoy!
Better known for his hit with Red Café (“R.A.C.K.S.”), Riz gets a major look from Drake and Noah “40″ Shebib.“Waiting Up” sounds very much like a Drake record—moody and atmospheric—with him kicking off the track, but Riz manages to step in and pull it off. This track will appear on his upcoming free album Deaf Ears Blind Eyes.
All this Tupac Coachella business has got me bumpin all types of westcoast ish. So here’s a track that’s considered to be one of Pac’s best work. We all remember the gangster parties and the beefing but all that aside, Pac was still just a regular dude dedicated to putting out music, sharing stories & depicting pictures of where he’s come from.

Chris Brown and Big Sean Perform ‘Till I Die’ at Supafest
Chris Brown turned it up Down Under during his invigorating set at Supafest in Sydney over the weekend. A shirtless Breezy brought out co-performer Big Sean to perform their hit “My Last” and new single “Till I Die” for the first time.
“This the last performance of the night. Let’s party like we ain’t got shit to do tomorrow,” said a sweaty Breezy.
Sean added, “Sydney, you gotta make some noise for the motherfucking legend one time, Chris Brown.”
The closing of the 2012 Coachella Festival was night to be talked of for sometime to come. West Coast legends, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg, lit up the place in a fashion that reminded me of the Up in Smoke Tour.
As iconic images of the two artists cover the screens they jumped right into “The Next Episode.” Then Dre and Snoop went even further back, performing classics from their solo debuts, The Chronic and Doggystyle. A tribute to Nate Dogg followed and Warren G and Tha Dogg Pound came up to join in on the fun. Wiz Khalifa was invited on stage by Snoop and then soon after so was Kendrick Lamar to perform with Dre.
50 cent jumps out with Tony Yayo with tons more energy than the last time we saw him. Snoop jumps back for the P.I.M.P. remix and then darkness. Appearing with “THUG LIFE” tatted across the stomach, Tupac Shakur graced the stage for the first time in 15 years. Made possible by holograms, Pac looked a bit aged in the face but looked like he had been working out with Dre these past years. The crowd roared as Pac let out a “What Up, COACHELLA?!” Pac and Snoop traded bars over their classic party tune and soon after another song, Pac vanished. This was a glimpse of what Up in Smoke could’ve been if Pac was around.
Lastly Slim Shady had to get on the show too. Jumping on stage with Dre, they performed “I Need a Doctor” and “Forgot About Dre” (one of my favorites of all time). 40,000+ in attendance got a show of a life time. I mean Tupac was actually back for a few moments! The Doctor had did it again.
Whoa, Nelly! Nelly Furtado is back and better than ever on “Big Hoops (Bigger the Better),” the first single off her fourth English album The Spirit Indestructible, due June 19. The Canadian singer shakes it fast and takes it slow on the bombastic Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins production, delivering her signature rap-sung style.
“I bet you never heard something like that,” sings Nelly, who has also collaborated with Nas, Salaam Remi, and Tiesto on the follow-up to 2006’s multi-platinum Loose.
Jennifer Hudson Takes the Stage With Ne-Yo on 'American Idol'
Jennifer Hudson had a special moment last night, as the singer returned to ‘American Idol’ to perform on the same show where her career took off. Taking to the stage, the songstress sung her “Think Like A Man” track. Joined by fellow R&B singer Ne-Yo, the two put on an amazing duet for the crowd. Despite Rick Ross not joining them, they certainly rocked the crowd. Check them out below:
David Banner drops another track off his upcoming, free album,Sex, Drugs, & Video Games, that features a list full of artists (Snoop Dogg, Game, Nipsey Hussle, Kree, and Ras Kass)
I had the nasty face once that beat dropped! And if there are any krumpers out there that need a new song then here’s one for ya! The beat knocks and I love how all the featured artists are like characters in the story that’s starring Banner, though I do wish that Game had a verse on this.
Akon was the latest artist to be profiled on VH1’s “Behind the Music.” The superstar singer and music mogul, born Aliaune Thiam, shared his inspiring journey from a village in Senegal to conquering the world charts. He opened up about his highs and lows, including the time he was caught humping an underage girl onstage, working with the late Michael Jackson, and helping launch Lady Gaga’s career.
“Gaga became the biggest success story in my history of music,” said Akon, who has a new album named Stadium on the way. “More than anything I was happy that I stuck with it and we believed in it together.”
The special also featured commentary from Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, and his family members. Follow Akon’s path to stardom in the full episode below.
I’ve actually followed Excel Cruz since way back in my high school days. Recently found him again online and he recently dropped this new track called “Thank You Krystle” dedicated to his inspiration for getting into the game.
Chris Brown featuring Big Sean & Wiz Khalifa – Till I Die
After smacking us with a smooth R&B number at the end of March releasing “Sweet Love,” Chris Breezy goes a bit more hip-hop presenting his latest single from his fifth studio album, Fortune, titled “Till I Die” featuring young heavyweights, Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa. No doubt that Chris Brown has certainly stepped up his lyrical abilities since exploding on the scene in the mid 2000′s, but is it enough to go against some of the bigger names in hip hop on the same track? We’ll allow you to be on the judge of that. Fortune is slated for a May 8 release so mark your calendars boys and especially girls.
Numbers Are In: Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Sells 253K Records in First Week
Nicki Minaj’s sophomore album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” debuts at number one with 253,000 records sold in the first week of sales. Nicki Minaj’s first album sold 375,000 records in the first week. Clearly her brand is way more popular now then it was in 2010. What do you think is the reason for the decline?

To celebrate his upcoming guest-lecture at New York University, which sold out in about 10 minutes, Berkeley’s Lil B has dropped a new 20-track mixtape. Clearly inspired by Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 2, judging from the artwork and title, Lil B’s The Basedprint 2 is now available to download below, while his NYU lecture is slated for tomorrow Wednesday, April 11.
